Don’t be dazzled by design
When every penny counts and earning those pennies is hard, don’t waste them.Particularly don’t waste them on clever, hugely talented and creative web designers who don’t understand your business, nor your customer profile but feel that because ‘they can’ is a sufficient justification to spend your money making their portfolio look good.

Admittedly it’s a bit like the site done by a friend for a client in quite a different sector, but that because we are all pushing the envelope!!
What’s hard is channelling that creativity into a strategy that knows what it is trying to achieve, tips its hat to the notion that it would like to sell something at a decent margin and chimes with the target audience.
It helps as well if that strategy integrates with existing packaging so that having been dazzled on by the web site, the audience recognises some coherence when they see the product on shelf or in the freezer and hey, they might even connect the two! Now that’s a result.
So are they all rubbish? Of course not. But remember the internet bubble in the 90’s. So clever, they forgot only one thing. Where was the profit coming from? And the crash that followed showed the wisdom of using some sound marketing before being swept of your feet.
So think smart. But most of all: Think.
